The German offensive in Alsace in early 1945 was the Wehrmachts last attempt to take over a strategic initiative on the Western Front. After the defeat in the Ardennes, their last remaining forces were put into action. The attack was a failure and resulted with a the loss of the entire Kolmar bridgehead. The losses were so great that the collapse of the entire German front on the Rhine was just a matter of time.
