In the early 20th century, successful merchants and speculators constructed commercial buildings like this in many parts of the United States. The ground floor was usually occupied by small businesses who used the large windows to display their wares. The upper floors might be sub-let as professional offices, a club meeting hall or converted to apartments. They can still be found on Main Street in small towns and big cities. Based on a prototype from eastern Ohio, this versatile structure comes with a set of plastic signs and colorful decals so it can be home to a variety of businesses in many eras.
